    This supplemental option offers you the ability to purchase:

     

    ABA’s Supplemental Group Term Life Plan, insured by 5 Star Insurance Company, allows members to:

    • Purchase additional Guaranteed Issued Group Term Life coverage in increments from $10,000 - $150,000.
    • Elect coverage for your spouse / partner and any eligible child dependents under this option.
    • Requires NO Doctors or Para-Med Exam.
    • Has NO Medical Questions.
    • Is priced to fit our member’s monthly budget.

     

    To qualify you must be an ACTIVE ABA Member in good standing working a minimum of 30 hours per week (W-2 or Self Employed individuals can qualify for enrollment) To select this GUARANTEED ISSUE ABA member only option, Click "Add Optional Benefit”at the top of this page.

    Supplemental rates subject to change when a member enters a new age band / bracket. Supplemental benefits are subject to benefit reductions as follows:

     

    Supplemental Benefit Coverage is subject to age reductions:

    • Age 70 reduces by 35%
    • Age 75 reduces by 55%
    • Age 80 reduces by 70%
    • Age 85 reduces by 80%
    • Age 90 reduces by 85%

     

    Members MUST elect to enroll in this benefit at the time of enrollment or within 31 days of enrollment. If enrollment for supplemental coverage is requested after 31 days, evidence of insurability is required.  The supplemental option is then no longer guaranteed issued.

  • ABA Members can opt to purchase a Supplemental Group Term Life Benefit with AD&D for their spouse.

    Spouse can elect a $10,000 GUARANTEED ISSUE benefit upon enrollment and up to $50,000 Simplified Issue. The Group Life Insurance Enrollment form MUST be completed and approved through Underwriting for any benefit over $10,000. 

    Requirements for coverage:

    • Member MUST purchase a Supplemental Term Life Buy-Up of at least $10,000 for their spouse to be eligible for coverage.
    • Spousal monthly rate is determined by the Spouse’s current age.
    • Spousal benefit cannot exceed Member’s supplemental benefit.

     

    Members can ONLY elect this guaranteed issue option if they have also added additional supplemental coverage. This benefit is a rider to The Members Certificate of Coverage under the Voluntary - Supplemental Group Term Life Coverage option. This is NOT a stand-alone benefit and must be elected within the first 31 days of membership to qualify.  Benefit is subject to all terms, conditions and exclusions of the Associations Group Master Policy.

    If an association member choses to place extended association benefits or supplemental coverage on a Spouse or a Partner in marriage, that Spouse or Partner cannot have a separate membership on their own. If a Spouse or a Partner elects to become a member on their own, they must terminate their extended Spouse or Partner benefits provided from the primary membership of their husband or wife. An individual cannot have both membership positions in the association, they need to decide to have one position over the other only.

    Benefits will only be paid from one membership or a Spouse/Partner relationship in the association.
